Lahaina, Maui HI... the People Return !!!

Lahaina Fire Recovery... this past weekend, Lahaina held the Lahaina Homecoming Celebration, a three-day event focused on healing, reconnection and hope. This video covers the event from the air and the ground.

Held July 17-19, 2026, the event centered around the Lahaina Banyan Tree, with the main entertainment stage at Campbell Park, and also included programming at Lahaina Cannery Mall and Lahaina United Methodist Church, featuring live entertainment, local food, cultural demonstrations, and community resources.

I also share an important update: the section of Front Street closed since the wildfire is set to reopen to vehicular traffic on Aug. 1, 2026, following the completion of various improvement projects in the area, the County of Maui Office of Recovery announced.

Is Lahaina rebuilt yet?
Not fully — rebuilding is ongoing more than three years after the August 2023 wildfire. But recovery is accelerating: Front Street reopens to vehicular traffic on August 1, 2026, homes and businesses continue to come back online, and community milestones like Lahaina Homecoming are real signs that life is returning to the town.
