Status of Eastern Carelia (Nations must consent to international courts)

In this international law case, the League of Nations sought to avoid the need for Russian consent to a case brought against it by Finland, but asking the court for an advisory opinion (as opposed to asking the court to settle the dispute). Russia objected, and the court found that it could not consider the matter without Russian consent.
