Currently, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, at 830 meters. But how far can we go? From Jericho to Dubai, humanity's obsession with reaching for the sky is a story of records, limits, and increasingly less impossible feats of madness.

In this video, we explore how we went from the Tower of Jericho (8.5 m, 10,000 years ago) to the Great Pyramid of Giza (146 m, 2560 BC), a colossus that held the record for 3,871 years. From there, the bar is raised from cathedrals and monuments to icons like the Eiffel Tower (300 m), the Empire State Building (381 m, 443 m with antenna), and towers that now seem like something out of science fiction… until we reach the current champion: the Burj Khalifa, with 830 m and 163 floors. Along the way, we compare heights with dams, bridges, statues, and buildings from around the world, and see how entire cities have transformed skyscrapers into their landscape, with Hong Kong far ahead and few Hispanic cities boasting more than ten towers over 150 m.

But things get interesting when the question shifts from "who is the tallest" to "how high can we go?" Projects like the 2 km pyramid megacity, the 4 km X-Seed 4000, or the 10 km Tower of Babel in Tokyo promise to house anywhere from 1 million to 30 million people, at the cost of relying on materials still beyond our reach and budgets the size of the GDP of entire countries. And when we're no longer talking about living, but about reaching space, ideas like giant launchers, orbital rings, and space elevators up to 100,000 km long, propelled by the Earth's rotation like a colossal slingshot, come into play. In the end, the frontier isn't just engineering: it's also the sky... and everything up there waiting for us not to hit it.
