Violence broke out in Albania, Sunday, after opposition protesters threw fireworks and molotov cocktails at the ruling party's headquarters. According to Associated Press water cannons and tear gas were deployed by police to disperse protesters. The rally was the sixth protest by opposition supporters who continue to demand the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the opening of the way for a caretaker government, which would lead the country towards early elections. In December the Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, a close associate of Rama, was suspended over a corruption scandal that is now being investigated. Several former ministers in Rama’s governments have also been targeted by corruption probes.
