Turkish English-language news website Enhaberler published material on the allegations spread about Ismail Qaani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force.
The article notes that in recent days, various versions have been spread on social media that Qaani may be connected to US or Israeli intelligence structures. The reason for this is that he survived several major attacks.
Qaani responded briefly to these allegations and said: “Let’s go through the process, the truth will come out sooner or later.” One of the main events that caused the discussions was the alleged operation that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as a result of a joint attack by the US and Israel. According to Iranian officials, Qaani survived the attack because he left the meeting early.
At the same time, he attracted attention by not being harmed even though he was in Lebanon on the day of the attack in 2024 that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In addition, Qaani's survival in the attacks targeting high-ranking military personnel in the last stages of the Iran-Israel conflict has raised various questions. At that time, allegations of Qaani being an 'agent' had come to the fore. Mossad had denied these allegations. In a statement from Mossad, it was said, "Ismail Qaani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, is not our spy." It had rejected months of speculation that the Iranian general had switched sides with the Israeli intelligence service. Qaani, known as the high-ranking commander responsible for foreign operations of the Revolutionary Guards appointed in place of the former Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in 2020, stated, "In the end, the truth will come out," but he was interrogated following the allegations raised against him. According to reports, the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad had provided details about the Supreme Leader's confidential meetings. Mossad operatives reportedly learned that Iran's top leadership was scheduled to attend a meeting inside the presidential palace at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday. The Israelis had precise information about when the meeting started, what it was about, who was present, where everyone was sitting, and which room Khamenei was sitting in. An indication of how deeply the Israeli secret service Mossad has eroded the Iranian state was that the information came from a person with absolute confidence in Khamenei, who was, literally, at his side. It is considered certain that the image of the dead Khamenei was not sent to Netanyahu by an Israeli drone, but by an agent recruited by Mossad. Who was it?
