The Hong Kong government on June 5, 2023, applied to the High Court for an injunction to prohibit the public from spreading the song "Glory to Hong Kong" online and on other platforms. The Department of Justice, in its court filing, requested the court to issue an order prohibiting anyone from publishing the song, lyrics, or other materials with the intention of inciting secession from the country, or confusing it with the regional anthem, or implying that Hong Kong is an independent country with its own national anthem.
