"Regardless of when Starship reaches orbit for the first time, SpaceX will build a fleet of Starships and launch them from sites in Texas and Florida."
That's Elon Musk's promise 3 years ago.
So far, SpaceX has yet to make Starship's first orbital flight. But SpaceX is definitely ramping up production hell "Super Heavy".
What a crazy future!
Find out everything about this in today's episode of Alpha tech:
Elon Musk just said: "What really matters is that ship & booster production line is spooling up."
He always believes it is important to have a high production rate because it enables engineers to move on rapidly to test the next prototype after a failure.
At this point, B7/S24 is still planned as the first duo to launch into orbit!
But if unfortunately, this duo is damaged during testing, SpaceX could have some backup options!
The company could immediately choose to retire Ship 24 and/or Booster 7 and move on to a new and improved pair: likely Ship 25 and Booster 9. Already complete, Super Heavy Booster 8 has been sitting untouched at Starbase’s launch site for weeks.
And at the time I make this report, SPMTs are ready underneath Booster 8. All prepared for an early trip into retirement! I would have to assume this will be scrapped when SpaceX has time.
On the other side, Booster 9 has been fully stacked and just got aero covers.
Remember Booster 8 got its Chinese almost two months after its final stacking and B9 is getting it just a couple of days after?
And we are seeing Raptors being delivered to Starbase again, SpaceX seems to have put all hands on deck to finish B9.
