Park Ranger Gina Lowry will be leading the annual Weed Wrangle event this Saturday at Paris Landing State Park.
The work will happen along the maintenance shop road at PLSP. Volunteers will help remove kudzu and Chinese privet.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those attending should meet in the parking lot of the maintenance shop and use hand tools for removal.
The park will supply all materials needed for the Weed Wrangle. It’s recommended that volunteers wear their own gloves if they have any to ensure a good fit. The park will supply disposable gloves for those who need them.
The Weed Wrangle, which is happening at many of Tennessee’s state parks on Saturday, is part of a national effort to remove invasive plants from public spaces. The event is not only a great opportunity for volunteers to get outside and help restore their native natural beauty, but also provide the knowledge and skill to combat these non-native invaders at your own home.
Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park in Benton County will also host a Weed Wrangle event Saturday, as will about three dozen other state parks in Tennessee.
