Mojo Tutorial

In this article, we continue to introduce how to edit professional short videos using Mojo. We will provide illustrated guidance to help you get started quickly.

Story Editing

You can directly select a page you like from the homepage to begin editing short videos. The advantage of doing this is that you don't have to individually select templates for each page. However, the downside is that it lacks a Reel Cover, making your short video page appear a bit cluttered.

I usually access the mobile version of Mojo, then select "Stories" in the upper right corner to start editing short videos. There are three options: Media, White Background, and Black Background.

Introduction to the Toolbar

Once you select a starting point, you will enter the interface shown below. You can easily familiarize yourself with the toolbar at the bottom. Please pay special attention to the highlighted sections in white. These are lessons learned through multiple revisions.

Case Study: Everyday Story 我的日常

I'll demonstrate how I created the highly-viewed short video “Everyday Story 我的日常” using Mojo.

You might wonder why more people prefer to watch everyday life content than educational content. If you think it's because 42-year-old Ariel has an appealing personality, it might be because you haven't fully grasped the nature of social media. The fundamental reason social media exists is that people enjoy peeking into others' lives or, in other words, curiosity. In this world, everyone feels loneliness deep down. Belonging is temporary; loneliness is real. So, human nature dictates that people need to see others' daily lives, share in others' experiences, find comfort and balance, empathize, gain inspiration and insight, and ultimately, feel a sense of belonging and companionship.

So, don't think that "who would like to watch my ordinary daily life?" As long as you share sincerely, there will definitely be people who enjoy watching, especially your friends and family, as well as those destined to be connected to your life.

Reel Cover

To the main point. The first thing I usually do is select a Reel Cover. If you want a neat short video page like the one below, this step is crucial.

It's worth noting that Mojo has a flaw in its functionality. Once you add one page, the next page can only be added after it, not in front of it. I've made this mistake several times by forgetting to create a Reel Cover first, resulting in redoing everything from scratch. The creation of this short video itself involved redoing it once. I've made the mistakes so you don't have to.

The Reel Cover interface has been previously explained in "Creating High-Quality Short Videos with iPhone and Mojo," so I believe you're familiar with it.

Add Page

After editing the Reel Cover, click on "Add Page" in the toolbar to enter the editing page for the next scene. This is where you select templates, just like with the Reel Cover. One of Mojo's great features is that you can change templates while editing pages, so even if you choose the wrong template, you don't have to redo all your existing content. I completed this short video by creating each page step by step.

Social Card

I want to highlight the Social Card, which is the final page in most of my videos:

I selected a template similar to my usual intro, added text, and included "Follow" and blossoming flowers using Graphics.

Mojo actually offers many preset Social Card templates. I didn't choose one because my Gan Jing World content is exclusive, so there's no need to promote content from other platforms. However, if you need to, you can explore these options.

Additionally, Mojo's templates support various file formats and types, including video templates with YouTube dimensions, which can be directly used for Gan Jing World. This gives you a portable video editing software, allowing you to work on videos whenever you have spare time, without having to finish them all at once. From a time management perspective, this is very convenient.

However, the drawback of mobile video editing is that you may miss some details because the screen is too small. So, sometimes, you only notice issues like extra black or white lines after uploading. I still recommend using Canva or Davinci Resolve on a PC for video editing.
