Athletics Rally with 5-Run 11th to Stun Rockies

In a dramatic 11th inning comeback, the Oakland Athletics secured a 10-9 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon. The rally was capped off by a walk-off walk from pinch hitter Tyler Soderstrom, who drew four consecutive balls from Rockies reliever Peter Lambert.

The Rockies had established a 9-5 lead in the top of the 11th, scoring twice against A’s closer Mason Miller and adding two more runs on a double by Brendan Rodgers off Brandon Bielak. However, Oakland responded with a surge of their own. Max Schuemann’s RBI double, Abraham Toro’s RBI single, and a game-tying two-run home run by JJ Bleday off Matt Koch set the stage for the final showdown.

Lambert (2-3) managed to get two outs while Oakland loaded the bases. An intentional walk to Kyle McCann was followed by an unintentional free pass to Soderstrom, allowing the Athletics to clinch the win. Bielak (1-0), who faced three batters and recorded just one out, was credited with the victory.

Earlier in the 11th, Jake Cave and Brenton Doyle had delivered RBI singles off Miller, and Rodgers’ pinch-hit double seemed to secure the game for Colorado. The Rockies’ bullpen, however, faltered for the third time in the final three innings.

Daz Cameron, making his debut for the A’s, homered in the ninth to tie the game at 4-4. Zack Gelof’s RBI single in the 10th inning brought the score to 5-5. Cameron, son of former major leaguer Mike Cameron, had been called up from Triple-A before the game and played a crucial role in Oakland’s comeback.

The Rockies had initially taken a commanding lead with the help of Ezequiel Tovar, who sparked two rallies against Oakland starter Joey Estes with doubles. Colorado starter Ryan Feltner pitched six shutout innings, limiting the A’s to four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Estes, making his fifth big-league start, allowed four runs on seven hits over a career-best seven innings, striking out six without issuing any walks. Despite a strong performance from Feltner, the Rockies’ bullpen could not maintain the lead.

Seth Brown had three hits and scored three times for the A’s, who outhit the Rockies 17-11. McCann and Schuemann also recorded three hits each, while J.D. Davis and Gelof contributed with two hits apiece. For Colorado, Cave, Doyle, Tovar, and Elehuris Montero each had two hits in what marked the Rockies’ 10th one-run loss of the season.
