Thursday, July 31: ‘The Unrestricted War’ Movie Premiere Event on Capitol Hill and Panel Discussion Livestreaming

The political thriller “The Unrestricted War” will premiere on Thursday, July 31 at the U.S. Capitol Hill, followed by a high-profile panel discussion that will be livestreamed from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET on Gan Jing World .

Inspired by true events during the early COVID-19 outbreak, the film exposes how the Chinese Communist regime concealed critical information and silenced whistleblowers, triggering a global crisis. Since its mid-July theatrical release in Cineplex theaters across Ottawa and several Canadian cities, the film has received strong audience reactions. Some viewers praised it as “a film everyone should see,” and Taiwan’s representative to Canada called the movie “deeply moving.” One reviewer noted that the film’s production quality “is on par with Hollywood B-level productions.”

Real-World Events as the Backdrop

“The Unrestricted War” draws from several significant real-life events, including the Meng Wanzhou incident, Hong Kong’s anti-extradition protests, the Wuhan outbreak, whistleblower Dr. Li Wenliang, the Winnipeg P4 laboratory controversy involving Chinese scientists, and China’s “White Paper Revolution.”

The story follows Canadian virologist Jim Conrad, who is running a biotech venture in China when he is suddenly arrested by military secret agents. Coerced into stealing a sample of his own work from a Canadian P4 lab, he soon finds himself at the center of a rapidly escalating outbreak. As chaos unfolds, Conrad must protect his loved ones and find a way to escape China before it’s too late.
