POUGHKEEPSIE – Denise Gilpin, 50, of Poughkeepsie, has been charged with murder in the death of her 78-year-old mother, Olga Hinds-Coley, on Monday, April 7, 2025.  Police had responded to a 911 call from the victim’s home at 2 Oak Crescent in Poughkeepsie shortly after 1 p.m.  When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest.  The daughter was located in another area of the house and taken to police headquarters as a “person of interest.”

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Following a lengthy process of evidence collection by crime scene technicians and detective interviews, Gilpin was charged with felony murder, arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court, and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
