POUGHKEEPSIE – A 42-year-old woman is in custody as a person of interest following the murder of her mother.
Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute and found 78-year-old Olga Coley suffering from a stab wound in her Poughkeepsie home on Monday afternoon. The incident began at approximately 1:20 p.m.
Police arrived and found the elder Coley suffering from a stab wound to her chest. As first responders triaged the woman, officers located the victim’s daughter, Holley Coley in the attic of the 2 Oak Crescent home where the incident occurred. The daughter, a resident of New York City, was taken to police headquarters as a person of interest.
Olga Coley was transported to a local hospital for treatment and succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Detective Lieutenant Sean McCarthy said the incident was isolated and there was no threat to the general public.
