Stonehenge in the United Kingdom has always been a mystery. About sixteen years ago, I visited the site. That day, it was raining continuously. Fortunately, as I approached Stonehenge, the rain not only lightened but gradually stopped. As I walked closer to the monument, I felt as if countless beings from another dimension were rushing toward me, eager to share their stories—more precisely, to voice their grievances.
At that moment, a tourist approached me, asking for help taking a photo. I agreed. I told those beings, "Wait a moment; I can't keep shifting between two different time-spaces" (as I was feeling physically unwell). Unfortunately, I was on a one-day bus tour, so my time there was brief. I also seemed reluctant to hear those sorrowful past stories and quickly left Stonehenge with the tour group. Later, I felt a sense of regret, as I never had the opportunity to revisit the site.
Stonehenge is one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, located on the Salisbury Plain in southern England. The construction techniques used in Stonehenge are similar to the mortise-and-tenon joints found in Eastern architecture, the only difference being the materials—stone in the West and wood in the East. Chronologically, it dates back approximately 5,000 years, around 3000 BCE, similar to the Egyptian pyramids.
Modern scientists have long studied how these massive stones, some weighing tens or even hundreds of tons, were transported from distant mountains to the plains. Researchers were astonished to discover that the bluestones within Stonehenge originated from the Preseli Hills, 250 kilometers away. They have referred to this as a "super engineering project" of the Neolithic era.
However, in spiritual and esoteric circles, an answer has existed for a long time—like the pyramids, Stonehenge is believed to be the work of giants. In medieval Western legends, Stonehenge was referred to as "the sacred stones from the Giant's Dance." The legendary wizard Merlin also claimed that these stones were magically transported from Ireland and that they possessed healing powers. Supporting this idea, archaeologists have unearthed numerous human remains beneath Stonehenge, many showing signs of severe illness or injury. Additionally, large quantities of human bones from distant regions, along with the remains of pigs—most of which were nine months old—have been found. Some scholars speculate that people may have traveled there on pilgrimages or seeking medical healing, leading them to consider Stonehenge as a prehistoric hospital or a sacred site for healing.
The healing properties are believed to come from the bluestones transported from Ireland. Interestingly, the English name "bluestone" was translated into Chinese as "green stone," possibly because the rock's color contains bluish-green hues similar to those found in Chinese culture. Today, its spiritual significance is widely recognized in Eastern practices. It is used to activate the third eye, balance chakras, and connect with higher dimensions.
In truth, 5,000 years ago, Stonehenge was a place where people sought to communicate with the spirits of their deceased loved ones. The people of that time believed that the site possessed a powerful energy field capable of healing illnesses and, perhaps, even bringing the dead back to life. Scientists have acknowledged that the builders of Stonehenge may have conducted religious ceremonies linked to the solar cycle, such as celebrations of fertility, harvest, or rebirth—natural cycles of life.
Some spiritual beliefs hold that Stonehenge is located at a key energy point on Earth, where ley lines—invisible energy pathways—intersect, giving it mysterious power. While Stonehenge remains an enigma to modern science, most scholars agree that it played a significant religious and ceremonial role in ancient society. It was likely connected to astronomical observations, ancestor worship, nature veneration, and tribal rituals. It stands as a symbol of ancient humanity’s deep exploration of cosmic order, the cycle of life, and the reverence for mystical forces.
