The Tuidang movement, started in November 2004, encourages Chinese around the world to renounce their oaths made to lay down their lives for communism when they joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or its affiliated youth organizations. Over the past two decades, hundreds of millions of people have given their assumed or real names to voice their separation from the CCP, the single most deadly regime in human history.
At the forefront of urging Chinese to take part in the Tuidang movement are adherents of Falun Gong, a traditional spiritual discipline that the CCP banned in 1999 and has severely persecuted since. Here, Vision Times presents some recent statements from those who have quit the Party, translated from the Chinese.
A demobilized soldier quits the CCP (Feb. 28, 2025)
I am a demobilized member of the military who once joined the atheist organizations of the Chinese Communist Party, its Youth League, and Young Pioneers. Under the CCP’s family planning policy [the one-child policy], I was stripped of my Party membership for having a second child.
Today I completely renounce my involvement in the CCP’s atheist malign organizations, clear the mark of the beast that comes with them, and welcome a bright future under the grace of gods and Buddhas.
— Yao Dahai (姚大海), mainland China.
A millennial quits the Young Pioneers (Feb. 28, 2025)
I was born in the 1990s and wore the red scarf for six years in elementary school, participating in the CCP’s flag-raising ceremonies. I have come to realize that the Communist Party is doomed for destruction, and regret my earlier affiliation with it. Hence, I hereby declare my withdrawal from the CCP’s evil cult organization [the Young Pioneers]. When the time comes to overthrow the CCP, I will demand justice for the countless souls of my fellow countrymen who have perished!
Both my grandfather’s and father’s generations were taken in by Mao’s tyranny and stood with the CCP. They participated in the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, yet in the end, they turned out to be nothing more than chives waiting to be harvested! The CCP has wreaked havoc on all life — every time I think about the 30 million people who starved to death during the Great Leap Forward, the pain cuts me like a knife. And then there was the Cultural Revolution, which devastated the entire nation, leaving the people destitute and miserable. The CCP strips people of their dignity, gender, faith, and freedom... But what I can tolerate the least are the Tiananmen Massacre and the persecution of Falun Gong.
Back in 2014, I came across a physical book on the street exposing the CCP’s persecution and live organ harvesting (though I later lost the book, which was a shame). The CCP’s crimes are beyond redemption — if it is not brought down, there is no justice in the heavens!
I urge my fellow Chinese people not to believe in the CCP. They offer nothing but lies and violence. Let us return to faith, return to kindness, and live with true dignity.
— Li Shu (李枢), Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.
A Party member quits the CCP in the United States (Feb. 26, 2025)
I was once a member of the Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers. During the pandemic, I was suppressed by the CCP for speaking the truth online. Now, I have come to see the true evil nature of the CCP and have decided to withdraw from all its organizations, severing all my connections with the Communist Party once and for all.
— Wu Weijie (吴伟杰), United States.
The child of a Korean War veteran quits the CCP (Feb. 22, 2025)
My father joined the military in 1947 and fought in the war to "Resist America and Aid Korea" [the CCP’s name for the Korean War] as part of the Fourth Field Army. He survived by eating frozen sorghum rice balls on the battlefield, endured fierce combat, was shot multiple times, and miraculously made it back to China alive. He recalled that the Party instructed his unit to remain on standby for further assignments. However, as time dragged on and he needed to provide for his family, he took a temporary job. Later, this work experience was not recognized, and he spent the better part of his life traveling from his hometown to Beijing, petitioning the authorities year after year. He became a well-known "professional petitioner," yet instead of having his grievances addressed, he was eventually detained in a local "study class" for forced self-reflection.
In China, those who served before the founding of the regime now receive monthly pensions exceeding 10,000 yuan. However, when my father passed away two years ago, his monthly income was only a little over 4,000 yuan. He often said, “The Communist Party owes me nearly three million yuan in wages. Never forget — under Communist rule, there is no justice! It is a ruthless, inhuman demon that discards people once they are no longer useful!”
I, Jiang Shunxue, hereby declare my withdrawal from the evil Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers.
On behalf of my deceased relatives, Jiang Cai and Chen Qing, I also declare their withdrawal from the evil Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers, erasing the mark of the beast!
— Jiang Shunxue (蒋舜学).
‘The CCP has never changed its thuggish ways’ (Feb. 20, 2025)
The CCP has never changed its thuggish ways, using lies to deceive the people of China and the world. It has slaughtered countless Chinese and other people around the world, and has never offered any apology to the people. It is pure evil. I withdraw from the CCP’s Young Pioneers organization.
— Xin Wang (新旺), Anhui Province
A Northeast Chinese family quits the CCP (Feb. 18, 2025)
Since childhood, I never liked joining these organizations, especially because of the oaths, group statements, and the guiding principles we were forced to memorize. In elementary school, almost everyone had to join the Young Pioneers. In middle and high school, classmates tried to persuade me to join the Communist Youth League, but I always refused. During university, our class Youth League secretary forcibly enrolled me without my consent. I only paid the membership fee once, and at that time, I said being a Young Pioneer was enough for me — I never had any intention of joining the Communist Party.
During high school, I accidentally overheard a teacher mention the Tiananmen Square Massacre (June 4th Incident), along with some other parts of Chinese history from our textbooks. The sense of humiliation made it hard to even listen. High school was suffocating, and though life had its difficulties, I often felt that some invisible fate was helping me. To this day, life remains full of struggles. I suffer from depression, anxiety, and irritability. Happiness eludes me. Therefore, I now declare my withdrawal from the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers.
My family members, Ha Bo and Bao Shun, also declare their withdrawal from the Communist Party (withdrawing from all possible affiliations). They worked diligently for CCP-affiliated workplaces, enduring hardship without complaint. Yet, just one year before retirement, they became implicated in an anti-corruption investigation that traced back 30 years, linked to their superiors's misdeeds. The disciplinary committee (CCDI) violated laws and regulations, threatening them physically and psychologically, using coercion and deception to extract forced confessions. The self-serving disciplinary officials tricked my parents into signing documents that turned them into accomplices, leading to one and a half years of imprisonment. Including the time they were detained during the investigation, they lost over two years of their lives. They repeatedly appealed and requested retrial, but every single time, their case was dismissed.
Despite paying into the pension system for decades, because of this incident, they have been denied even a single cent of retirement benefits. The trauma has left them suffering from multiple chronic illnesses to this day. As for me, I am now graying at the temples and am stuck with the sorrow of this experience. Even after their release, they have tried countless times to seek justice from higher authorities, but their pleas have vanished into the void. I know that under CCP rule, there is no hope for justice. My only wish is for my family to stay healthy and safe, no longer having to live in constant fear.
In 2020, on my birthday, disciplinary officials came to our home, recording video and conducting a search without any proper investigation warrants. That day remains unforgettable — I will remember those officers for the rest of my life!
Today, I declare my withdrawal from all CCP organizations, hoping for peace and safety. (My grandfather once fought under General Lin Biao for the CCP’s revolution, and in the end, we all know how things turned out. I do not seek wealth or power — only for kindness and justice to prevail, and for those who deserve punishment to be held accountable!)
— Chang Xiang (常祥), Ha Bo (哈博), and Bao Shun (宝顺), of Northeast China, renounce the CCP using pseudonyms.
A Chinese in Japan quits the Young Pioneers (Feb. 16, 2025)
When I was in elementary school, I took my membership in the Young Pioneers as a great honor and source of pride. However, after reaching the age for withdrawal, I simply left the organization. During my middle school years, my family was poor, and neither my teachers nor classmates paid much attention to whether I joined the Communist Youth League or not. I also suffered from lack of self-esteem, and as a result, I never joined the Youth League in high school or university. In hindsight, this actually spared me from further indoctrination.
Recently, after hearing Li Muyang [a popular overseas Chinese commentator] explain that even if one has left, the oath taken must be renounced through an official withdrawal, I decided to make this declaration today: I formally withdraw from the Young Pioneers. Thank you.
— Li Xiaoling (李小玲), Japan.
'The Communist Party has ruined China' (Feb. 13, 2025)
I often read and reflect, and over the years, I have come to realize that the Communist Party has ruined China. Chinese society today is morally bankrupt, and people's hearts have decayed. Looking back through history, has any dynasty ever been as degenerate as today’s society? The imperial dynasties of the past fought for secular power, but the Communist Party is unique in that it even seeks to control people's souls. Which historical dynasty ever dared to destroy Buddhism, demolish temples, and sabotage traditional culture?
I believe in the content of Falun Gong's truth clarification materials — Heaven will eliminate the Chinese Communist Party. By withdrawing from the Communist organizations, one can ensure one's safety.
— Chunfeng (春风), China.
'It instills its corrupt Communist Party culture of deceit, malice, and struggle’ (Feb. 9, 2025)
The Communist Party is the most poisonous virus in the world. Through its countless political campaigns it has forced the Chinese people to abandon traditional virtues such as benevolence, righteousness, propriety, integrity, and kindness. Instead, it instills its corrupt Communist Party culture of deceit, malice, and struggle as the behavioral norm, leading to the severe moral decay of Chinese society today. The CCP has committed countless crimes and is the root of all evil.
During our school years, we were deceived and brainwashed into wearing the red scarf and joining the Communist Youth League. Today, we solemnly declare our withdrawal and completely sever ties with this Communist regime. We believe the future will be bright and full of hope.
— Ah Ying (阿英) and Ah Qiang (阿强), Gaoming district, Foshan city, Guangdong Province.
A Christian and ‘Former Online Leftist’ takes part in the Tuidang movement (Feb. 7, 2025)
I joined the Chinese Young Pioneers in 2014 and took an oath upon entering. During middle school, I believed the world was full of injustice, and after reading Trotsky’s works, I gradually developed an affinity for communism, identifying myself as a communist (online leftist). However, in high school, I became a Christian. Later, I learned that the very figure I once admired — Trotsky — had been responsible for the deaths of many innocent people and had reinstated the brutal Roman practice of decimation. Only then did I realize the fundamental flaws of communism.
As my religious beliefs did provide a means to revoke the oath I once took, I am deeply grateful to Falun Gong practitioners for giving me this opportunity to renounce my past and start anew. Though I do not practice Falun Gong, I wholeheartedly appreciate their efforts in offering people a path to break free.
I, Wang Junyi, hereby solemnly swear that from this day forward, I will never again join any form of communist organization in any capacity. I thank God for guiding me to this realization—praise be to Him.
Finally, I sincerely hope that all 1.4 billion Chinese people, including the 100 million CCP members, will one day see the truth and repent. I also hope that President Xi Jinping will turn his heart around and stop leading us further down this misguided path. I love my country. May God bless me — Hallelujah, Amen.
— Wang Junyi (王隽毅)
A detainee quits the CCP after meeting a Falun Gong practitioner (Feb. 7, 2025)
In 2022, while detained at Xiamen No. 1 Detention Center, I heard a Falun Gong practitioner from Jiangxi Province speak the truth. Having spent many years within the CCP system myself, I have witnessed and understood its deep-rooted evil. This has led me to make the firm decision to withdraw from all Communist Party organizations, including the CCP, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers.
— Li Shouchun (李收纯), Xiamen, Fujian Province.
A Tokyo University graduate quits the Communist Youth League and Young Pioneers (Feb. 6, 2025)
I hereby formally declare my withdrawal from the Communist Youth League, which I joined in middle school, and the Young Pioneers, which I joined in elementary school.
I attended part of my school in Japan while my parents were studying abroad. Later, after they graduated, we returned to China. Although Japan was a nation that committed war crimes in World War II, and some politicians are criticized for visiting the Yasukuni Shrine, the education in Japan primarily focuses on teaching children the horrors of war, the pain of separation and death, and the importance of reflection and pacifism. However, upon returning to China, I was shocked to find that the education there emphasized glorifying battlefield heroism — bragging about how countless Japanese soldiers were killed — while teachers passionately instilled anti-Japanese and anti-American sentiments. This stark contrast was difficult for my young self to adjust to, leading to conflicts with classmates.
As I grew older, I learned to suppress my true thoughts to avoid unnecessary trouble. Even when I later returned to Japan for study and work, I maintained a low profile, choosing to keep my distance from the Communist Party while trying to live with integrity, without interference.
However, a recent scandal that shook the Japanese internet made me rethink everything. A Chinese student from my alma mater, Song Kexin of the University of Tokyo, was hospitalized due to illness but exploited a loophole in Japan's medical assistance system to fraudulently claim 13 million yen (around US$87,000) in subsidies. After returning to China, she boasted about her actions online, mocking and insulting Japan. As a fellow Chinese national and an alumnus of the same university, I find her actions utterly disgraceful and repulsive. Ultimately, her behavior stems from the indoctrination of CCP-style ideological poisoning from a young age.
This incident deeply impacted me. To distance myself from such individuals who align with the CCP, and to prove that I am a dignified, honest, and respectful descendant of the Chinese civilization, I hereby solemnly declare my withdrawal from the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers.
— Wang Ying (王映), Tokyo, Japan.
Quitting the CCP after learning about the Tiananmen Square massacre (Feb. 4, 2025)
I was only eight years old during the Tiananmen Square massacre. At the time, I overheard my parents talking — saying that soldiers were shooting at students, and blood was flowing like a river in the square. Though I was too young to fully understand, that conversation planted a seed of doubt in my heart.
It wasn’t until I first accessed the uncensored internet that I realized my parents had been talking about the June 4th Massacre — one of the most horrifying crimes the CCP has committed against its own people. To this day, the CCP still hides and censors the truth about this atrocity, proving that it is nothing more than an evil regime, the most sinister force in the world.
I refuse to be associated with this demonic organization and hereby withdraw from the Young Pioneers. I also call on anti-communist individuals worldwide to unite and completely eradicate this evil regime!
— Li Qingshu (李庆书), Beijing.
A witness to the Tiananmen Square Massacre quits the CCP (Feb. 1, 2025)
I joined the Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League either through deception or coercion. I hereby declare that all previous oaths made under these organizations are null and void. I firmly withdraw from both the Youth League and the Young Pioneers!
During the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989, though I was only 11 years old, the sound of gunfire awakened me to the falsehood and hypocrisy of the Communist Party. From the central leadership to the grassroots members, I have seen nothing but deception and corruption.
I have since left mainland China with my family and refuse to live as a slave under CCP rule. Unless the CCP collapses, I will change my nationality as soon as possible. I hope for the Party’s swift downfall—all tyrannies are destined to perish!
— Li Jiang (李江), Beijing.
