Summer is bright and starting to bloom outside, as a new teacher, I'd like to list down the preparations I am making for the upcoming school year.
- Getting an organized and overall understanding of the provincial curriculum, education system & management, provincial-wide exams, and relevant policies.
- Researching the different school systems, making the long-term planning for the whole school year: including the number of classes, and content to be covered for each grade about to teach
- Making detailed lesson plans. The materials I am using for making the lesson plans are:
- Textbook from the Quebec curriculum (borrowed from the library)
- Resources used in previous field experiences
- Math materials relevant to the British Columbia curriculum (Math Lessons (bcmath.ca)
- Courseware from University of Waterloo (Courseware (uwaterloo.ca)
- Khan Academy (Khan Academy | Free Online Courses, Lessons & Practice)
- Experienced math teacher for discussion & learning
- Study.com
