Sniper: Assassin’s End, marking a high point in the franchise’s 27-year history. Sniper: Assassin’s End is suspenseful, exciting, and well-paced.

The narrative opens in the fictional South American nation of Costa Verde, where a captivating Japanese assassin named Yuki Mifune, also known as Lady Death (played by Sayaka Akimoto), orchestrates a stunning sniper attack from her high-rise hotel room, targeting Bruno Diaz, the country's President. As Diaz falls victim to the shot during a public agreement signing, Yuki frames Master Gunnery Sergeant Brandon Beckett (portrayed by Chad Michael Collins), by placing a single hair of his (as DNA evidence) in her hotel room.

The assassination triggers the CIA to establish a temporary investigation hub, leading to Beckett's arrest due to the presence of his DNA at the crime scene. Held in custody and interrogated, Beckett is then being transferred to a more secure facility. When the convoy is ambushed by Russian mercenaries, seizing a moment of opportunity, Beckett eliminates attackers, and escapes. On the run, Beckett seeks refuge in rural Northern Montana, seeking assistance from his estranged father, Thomas Becket (Tom Berenger), to clear his tarnished name and expose the true culprits.

Behind the camera, the director of photography, Stirling Bancroft, crafts visually compelling scenes that could easily grace a theater screen. Complementing the action, Patric Caird's score enhances the movie's fast-paced rhythm with its electrifying music. Why wait any longer? Just turn on Netflix now.

6. Leo

Director: Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel, David Wachtenheim | Runtime: 102 minutes | Genre: Drama, Thriller

Cast: Adam Sandler, Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler

Watch on  Netflix

"Leo," Sandler's most recent project, is another comedy set in a classroom that is aimed toward a younger audience. The film deviates from the standard Sandler formula, even though Sandler plays a more major role this time around, voicing the animated character of Leo, an introspective lizard struggling with mortality. Leo plans his escape to discover life outside of his tank, but instead he turns into an unanticipated mentor to the children he meets along the way. Without depending on the typical humorous components seen in Sandler's earlier works, the film provides life lessons while examining issues of adulthood and the value of maintaining relationships.

The film excels in portraying the complex problems that the children that Leo counsels are dealing with, even with Sandler's choice to give Leo a distinct voice that adds an extra layer of ridiculousness. The film tackles these issues seriously, tackling issues like fear and the reluctance to ask questions. Its effectiveness stems from its intelligent two-hander vignettes. Even if there are some weak points in the movie, particularly in relation to the main idea, and the final act drags a little, "Leo" still manages to be a pleasant and endearing watch. The film is appealing to both people who are still in the classroom and those who have long since left because of its vibrant animation, thought-provoking observations, and authentic portrayal of significant themes.
