Top allies of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani have defeated establishment-backed Democrats in New York's congressional primary elections.

According to Associated Press the sweep by his picks Tuesday handed the democratic socialist leader of America’s largest city a significant victory in his bid to reshape the Democratic Party.

Congressman Dan Goldman was beaten by the Mamdani-backed former city Comptroller Brad Lander, who often aligned himself with the democratic socialist movement.

Another Mamdani ally, democratic socialist state Assembly Member Claire Valdez, beat the handpicked favorite of retiring U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez.

And five-term Congressman Adriano Espaillat fell in defeat to Mamdani's pick Darializa Avila Chevalier, who once helped organize pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.

Two of Mamdani’s congressional slate identify as democratic socialists, while Lander has allied himself with the movement in the past.

In his celebration speech on Tuesday, Lander vowed to abolish the federal bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, described Israel’s war in Gaza as “genocide” and referred to “Trump’s fascism.”

"Our party needs to admit that Joe Biden's hugs Bibi strategy, was a catastrophic failure. I believe it made us complicit in genocide. Bombs we've paid for, killed over 70 thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children," he said, next to Mamdani.

He has been especially outspoken against Trump’s immigration crackdown and was acquitted earlier this month on charges related to a protest inside a building housing an immigration court .

All three of Mamdani’s candidates have promised to “abolish ICE,” condemned the “genocide” in Israel and vowed to “tax the rich” if elected.
