WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump revealed plans for the U.S. 250 Freedom Tour, a year-long, 50-state celebration of America’s 250th birthday, inspired by the post-WWII Friendship and Merci Trains.
“To help carry out these exciting plans, we’ve created a new public-private partnership, it’s called Freedom 250,” Trump said in a YouTube video on December 18.
A Coast-to-Coast Celebration
The non-partisan Freedom 250 tour, in partnership with the White House Task Force 250 and America250 Commission, will:
- Visit all 50 states in 50 weeks.
- Celebrate “patriotism, pride, and pioneering spirit.”
- Feature a Freedom Village, live productions, and Liberty the Beagle (the tour’s ).
“This will be a time like you’ve never had in your lives,” Trump said.
Kickoff in Nevada
The tour launches in Mesquite, Nevada, on January 9, 2026, with:
- Free concerts by Shenandoah and Natasha Owens.
- Fireworks display.
“Whether you’re in a rural town or a major city, this celebration is coming to you,” the tour website states.
More 250th Birthday Events
Trump also announced:
- “Great American State Fair” (summer 2026, National Mall), with pavilions from all 50 states.
- Patriot Games (fall 2026), featuring one man and one woman per state in athletic competitions (no mixed-gender events).
- National Garden of American Heroes and a triumphal arch in Washington, D.C.
“You’ll never see anything like it, and you’ll never see anything like it again,” Trump said.
A Historic Year Ahead
The Freedom 250 Tour aims to “honor our heroes” and *“celebrate American innovation, creativity, and resilience,” said executive director Tony Griffith.
“From our farmers and ranchers to the Space Coast and the entertainment industry, everyone will have an opportunity to participate.”
The tour is just the beginning—with more events planned to mark America’s semiquincentennial.
