President Donald Trump announced Friday that his administration is expanding TrumpRx to include more than 800 prescription medications, saying the program now covers drugs used in roughly four out of every five prescriptions filled in the United States.
In a June 5 post on Truth Social, Trump said the prescription discount platform is adding 160 more medications to its offerings, continuing a rapid expansion of the program since its launch earlier this year.
“I am pleased to announce that TrumpRx.gov is adding another 160 Prescription Drugs, at highly discounted prices, for a new total of over 800 of the most commonly-used Prescription Drugs,” Trump wrote.
The president said the latest expansion means consumers can now use TrumpRx.gov to access clear pricing information and discounted offers for medications that make up about 80% of U.S. prescriptions.
The administration launched TrumpRx on Feb. 5 after reaching most-favored-nation pricing agreements with 17 major pharmaceutical companies. Under that approach, Trump said Americans should pay no more, and ideally less, than patients in other countries for the same prescription drugs.
“Now we are cutting Prices, and cutting them by a lot,” Trump wrote. “These Most Favored Nations Deals have already, in fact, saved American Patients over $400 Million since the launch of TrumpRx.gov.”
Trump said tariffs were central to securing the agreements, arguing that the administration used trade pressure to push foreign governments and pharmaceutical companies into accepting lower pricing arrangements.
“Most Favored Nations would not be possible without my use of tariffs,” Trump wrote.
The president said his administration is continuing to pursue additional pricing deals and partnerships intended to lower drug costs further.
Administration officials have said participating drugmakers received tariff-related exemptions in exchange for reducing prices on certain medications and making discounted pricing available to eligible cash-paying consumers through TrumpRx.
Trump has repeatedly argued that Americans have paid more than patients in other nations because the United States has effectively subsidized lower drug prices abroad. At a February White House event marking the first anniversary of his second term, he described the program as a major shift in federal prescription drug policy.
“I think that most favored nations for drugs is something that nobody thought they’d be able to get,” Trump said at the time.
“Tariffs helped me there because the nations would have never gone along with it if I wasn’t able to say, ‘If you don’t go along with it, we’re going to put a 10 or 15 or 20 percent tariff on your nation,’” he said.
Trump has described the initiative as the largest prescription drug price reduction in U.S. history.
When TrumpRx launched in February, the website initially offered about 40 medications, including fertility treatments and asthma drugs. The administration has expanded the platform several times since then.
A major expansion came May 18, when Trump announced that more than 600 discounted generic drugs were available through the website. That rollout also included direct-to-home delivery options through mail-order pharmacy partnerships.
“In some cases the discounted generics … may be offered at an even lower cash price than the out-of-pocket insurance cost,” Trump said in a May 18 speech in Washington.
At the time, Trump said TrumpRx had drawn about 10 million users in its first three months and had already produced more than $400 million in consumer savings.
The Council of Economic Advisers estimates that Americans will save nearly $600 billion over 10 years because of the administration’s most-favored-nation drug pricing arrangements, which now include 17 pharmaceutical companies.
Officials have said TrumpRx is designed to make prescription pricing more transparent by allowing consumers to compare costs directly and shop among multiple providers.
“TrumpRx has created transparency with no middlemen,” Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said during the May announcement.
Trump urged Americans to check TrumpRx.gov before filling prescriptions, saying some discounts are as steep as 600%.
“TrumpRx.gov will now provide clear, transparent, and discounted offerings for four out of five of every prescription filled by Americans,” Trump wrote.
The expansion marks the administration’s latest effort to make prescription costs a central part of its economic agenda, tying lower drug prices to Trump’s broader use of tariffs, direct negotiations and pricing pressure on pharmaceutical companies.
