Owain Rhys Davies, an actor who appeared in “The OA” and “Twin Peaks: the Return,” unexpectedly died at the age of 44, his family announced.
“It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,” his brother, Rhodri Davies wrote in a social media post. “This news will come as a great shock to many.”
Rhodri added that while there were still “questions” regarding his brother’s death, the family’s “understanding is that Owain passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.” He did not provide further details, but said they would try to provide updates when they become available.
“The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and a testament to the impact he had on so many lives,” he said.
“Owain was fortunate enough to have more than one family,” the statement continued. “Alongside his biological one, he built extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones. I am incredibly proud that, while he was my brother, he was also a brother to so many others.”

Rhodri said he and his father would “take comfort in knowing how loved he was.”
Davies was best known for playing Agent Wilson in the reboot of “Twin Peaks,” David Lynch and Mark Frost’s revival of the 1990s series, which premiered in 2017. He appeared in three episodes.
Other credits include Disney’s “Alice Through The Looking Glass,” “The Indian Doctor,” “My Dead Ex,” “A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life” among others. He also recently finished filming his final two projects, “Jeff the Killer” and “La Fantasia,” both of which are in post-production.
