State funding finds way to Cannon Street for housing

POUGHKEEPSIE – Developer and local businessman Jim Sullivan has been awarded $1.5 million in state funding as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) award for projects in the City of Poughkeepsie.  Sullivan, through an LLC, owns the former Dutchess County Board of Elections building at 47 Cannon Street and the neighboring building at 51 Cannon Street that was home to the Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Center.

Sullivan’s application for the DRI funding calls for demolishing the two buildings and replacing them with a six-story mixed-use development featuring underground parking, commercial space, and residential apartments.

Sullivan did not respond to an email seeking the proposed start and completion dates for the project.
