LEOMINSTER — Police say they have arrested a juvenile in connection to a threat made to Leominster High School on Friday.
The school was placed in “Hold” status on Friday morning, essentially a shelter-in-place order issued for students to remain in whatever classrooms they are in, and to stay out of the halls while the threat was being investigated.
“Through the efficient and coordinated efforts of the Leominster Police Department, Leominster Public Schools, and assistance from the Fitchburg Police Department, an arrest was made that successfully mitigated the threat,” said Leominster Police Chief Ryan Malatos, in a press release. “The arrest was made off-site, and the suspect did not go to the school.
“Following the arrest, the school was able to resume normal operations, however increased police presence remained throughout the district to ensure the safety of all schools,” Malatos said.
He said that due to the fact that the person arrested is a juvenile, no further information will be released at this time.

Another read, “Yes, great job to all. We all need to ask what the real question is, why are kids doing this type of stuff lately.”
