IN THE WINGS

BLACK SWAN AT THE ART—Black Swan is in rehearsal. The American Repertory Theater’s production begins with performances at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, on Tuesday, May 26, and is now extended through Sunday, July 5. Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh (“Gatsby” at A.R.T., “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway) returns to the A.R.T. to bring the Oscar-nominated psychological thriller “Black Swan” to the stage.

Pressure builds, boundaries blur, and reality begins to slip as Nina strives to rise from the ballet corps to the lead role in Swan Lake. Performed with Tayeh’s high-octane, genre-breaking chorography, this bold new musical adaptation explores ambition, power, and the cost of perfection. “Black Swan” features a contemporary book by Guggenheim fellow Jen Silverman and a haunting score by Obie Award winner Dave Malloy that blends the melodies of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” with a throbbing electronic soundscape.

Tickets from $43 (including fees) are available at AmericanRepertoryTheater.org/Black Swan. Discounts are available to full-time K-12 or university students and anyone under age 25; Blue Star families; NAP/EBT, WIC, and Connector Care cardholders; seniors, Harvard faculty and staff; and others.

POPS 4TH OF JULY LINEUP — The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular returns to the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade for its 52nd year on Saturday, July 4, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Led by legendary conductor Keith Lockhart, the Pops concert welcomes three very special guest artists: Grammy-winning country music superstar Lainey Wilson, three-time Grammy winner Chance the Rapper, and Grammy-winning New Orleans icon Trombone Shorty, each making their first appearance with the Pops. More on the concert as the 4th of July gets closer but save the date because it will be special as America celebrates its 250th birthday!
