POUGHKEEPSIE — The Center for Victim Safety and Support hosted its 13th annual Visions of Hope & Healing Art Show this week, in conjunction with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office’s second annual Candlelight Vigil. The events highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and Family Services Inc. in supporting crime victims.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi emphasized the importance of partnerships between his office, Family Services and law enforcement agencies in providing support for survivors, victims and their families throughout the criminal justice process. Parisi noted that the collaborative approach helps ensure victims receive the resources and assistance they need.
The art show featured works created by crime victims, many of whom have experienced significant mental and physical trauma from domestic violence.
“Art creates a safe space where survivors can begin to make sense of their experiences, helping them process trauma at their own pace, reclaim their voice, and reconnect with a sense of control, identity, and hope,” said Leah Feldman, CEO of Family Services.
The ceremony recognized two individuals and a K9 deputy, along with his handler, for their work on behalf of crime victims.
