The Junior League of Orange County, New York (JLOCNY) has launched a search for a partner to host the first of four satellite locations for the new Orange County Children’s Museum.
This initiative follows a feasibility process that confirmed strong community demand for a dedicated space for interactive learning and family engagement. The satellite model serves as a phased approach toward a future, permanent, centrally located facility. JLOCNY is currently inviting municipalities, developers, and institutions to submit proposals for a donated or deeply discounted indoor space.
“This initiative is rooted in our commitment to advancing women’s leadership and ensuring equitable access for all children and families across Orange County,” the organization stated in the RFP.
Site Requirements and Vision
The first satellite location is envisioned as an active, child-friendly environment similar to a public library or recreational facility. Desired characteristics for the host site include:
- Space: Approximately 2,500 to 6,000 square feet of flexible indoor space
- Target Audience: Exhibits and programming designed for children ages 0–12
- Accessibility: Must be ADA-compliant and offer free or nearby public parking
- Term: A minimum commitment of 3 to 5 years
Operational Structure
JLOCNY will take full responsibility for the museum’s day-to-day operations, including staffing, volunteer coordination, and programming. The selected partner will primarily serve as the host, providing the physical infrastructure to support an anticipated 10,000 to 20,000 annual visitors.
Submission and Timeline
Interested parties must submit a concise proposal (10 pages or fewer) to [email protected] by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2026.
