POUGHKEEPSIE — has unveiled a new AI strategy to equip students for a world where such technologies are rapidly advancing. The initiative merges technical skills and ethical considerations to help students use new technologies responsibly.
The announcement comes ahead of the upcoming Hudson Valley AI Summit. Marist is co-hosting the event with Dutchess County Government. The summit will gather national experts to discuss the growing impact of AI and explore ways to incorporate ethical guidelines into real-world AI applications.
“At Marist, we believe the future of AI is not about choosing between technology and humanity, it’s about advancing both,” said University President Kevin Weinman. “Grounded in our long‑standing belief that technology should elevate human potential, this strategy reflects thoughtful input from faculty, staff, and students over the past year. It does not change who we are, it amplifies who we have always been.”
The Marist+AI strategy is anchored by three pillars: AI readiness, focused on integrating AI across the curriculum and operations; ethical AI innovation, aimed at building partnerships and joining conversations about AI use; and AI literacy, which provides AI learning for students, faculty, and staff.
