ALBANY – Private sector jobs grew in Sullivan County by 4.6 percent during the period of January 2025 to January 2026, the State Labor Department reported on Thursday.
Sullivan outpaced all other Hudson Valley-Catskill region counties.
Greene County, with 4.5 percent growth, trailed right behind. Ulster County followed at 3.5 percent growth.
Delaware County had 3.0 percent growth with Westchester following at 1.6 percent, Putnam County at 0.9 percent, tying with the Orange-Dutchess region.
Rockland County lost jobs at 0.4 percent while Columbia County jobs fell by 0.6 percent.
Over the past year, private sector job count in the Hudson Valley rose by 10,600, or 1.3 percent, 831,200 in January 2026.
Job growth was centered in private education and health services at 12,000; professional and business services at 2,100; financial activities at 700; manufacturing at 300; and other services at 200.
Losses were greatest in trade, transportation and utilities, at 2,000; leisure and hospitality at 1,900; and mining, logging and construction at 400.
