ALBANY – Adding an additional two years to the state monitoring of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency is expected to be in the budget to be adopted in Albany in the days ahead.
Senator Sponsor James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) said the agency still needs oversight.
“The renewal of the monitor was included in the Senate budget proposal, along with some of the expanded powers that are in the legislation that I introduced a month ago. Negotiations are ongoing,” he said.
Skoufis is optimistic that the renewal of the monitor will be included in the state budget.
Monitor Brian Sanvidge says the monitor is needed, but Bill Fioravante, the IDA’s CEO, says it will only benefit the watchdog, which stands to make another $250,000, money from Orange County taxpayers.
