ELLENVILLE – Good news for the Ellenville Central School District. It has been taken off the State Education Department’s list of Target Districts, Superintendent Lisa Wiles announced.
Both of the district’s two buildings – the elementary school and the junior/senior high school – have been identified as Local Support and Improvement Schools, a designation that aligns with state ed’s former “Good Standing” status.
Wiles said the new designation reflects the collective dedication of educators, interventionists, student support staff, and families who have worked to ensure that students attend school consistently, receive high-quality instruction aligned with the state’s learning standards, and benefit from the academic and social-emotional supports they need to thrive.
“This is a meaningful milestone for our school community, and one that reflects the tireless efforts of our entire team,” said Wiles. “Together, we have demonstrated that focused, strategic work yields results.”
District officials said that while the Local Support and Improvement designation is progress, it is not a finish line.
