KINGSTON – Ulster County and the SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology are joining forces to establish an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic program in Ulster County.
In 2025, the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services EMS Enhancement and Stabilization Plan received state approval to allow the county to instruct basic EMT courses to increase the number of EMTs in the county.
The new joint program will enable EMTs to pursue the highest level of certification – paramedic – without leaving the county where they live and work.
County Executive Jen Metzger said the new program “is a major investment in the future of emergency medical services” in the county.
County Commissioner of Emergency Services said the program “creates new opportunities for out EMTs, strengthens our local workforce, and helps ensure our communities receive the highest level of emergency medical care.”
