LUNENBURG — Local author Carolyn Hochard will visit the Lunenburg Public Library to share the story behind her debut novel “The Stars We Could Reach.”
The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at the library, at 1023 Massachusetts Ave.
“Told through two distinct voices, the story traces the women’s journeys from sorrow toward healing and hope,” Hochard said. “Drawing in part from my own experiences, the novel explores themes of self-acceptance, unconventional paths to motherhood, and the unexpected strength we find in connecting with others.”
Set in a small New England town, the novel follows two women whose lives intersect during a time of profound loss. After a devastating personal heartbreak shatters her dreams of marriage and motherhood, Susan struggles to find a path forward. While spending time with horses at a local stable, she meets Hillary, another woman quietly recovering from a hidden tragedy.
As their friendship grows, both women must confront difficult questions about grief, resilience, and what it means to redefine family and motherhood.
The novel celebrates the big and small moments that make up a life and a friendship.
“I hope this story will inspire and resonate with readers as they follow the characters through hope and heartache, and ultimately coming to recognize the gifts they’ve been given through what they have lost,” said Hochard. “I am excited to share the inspiration behind ‘The Stars We Could Reach’ and the journey it took to get published, and I look forward to meeting everyone.”
Refreshments will be served, and signed copies of the book will be available for purchase. For more information, or to register (registration encouraged), visit the library’s calendar at lunenburglibrary.org.
