On Jan. 30, Costco and Nike jointly released a limited-edition sneaker—the Kirkland Nike SB Dunk—priced at $135. Blending Nike’s iconic skate shoe silhouette with visual elements from Costco’s in-house brand, Kirkland Signature, the release sparked an immediate buying frenzy in stores, drawing long lines of members eager to secure a pair.
Shoppers in New York, Oregon, California, and Washington state reported successfully purchasing the shoes at Costco warehouses. Many others, however, were forced to turn to the secondary market. On platforms such as StockX, eBay, and GOAT, resale prices quickly jumped from around $400 to as high as $5,000, underscoring the extraordinary demand for the collaboration.

Social media buzz and in-store scenes
Several influential voices in sneaker culture took to social media to share their experiences. Among them were DNA Show and Jacques Slade, both well-known commentators in the sneaker community.
DJ Willingham of DNA Show said he arrived at his local Costco promptly at 9 a.m., only to find a substantial crowd already waiting. He praised Costco for running an orderly and well-managed release, noting that the process appeared smoother than many high-profile sneaker launches.
