Washington, D.C. – The United States and the Republic of Korea held the third meeting of the U.S.-ROK Business Travel and Visa Working Group in Seoul on January 28, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and facilitating lawful business travel between the two allies.

According to a State Department press release, the talks—co-chaired by Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Jonathan Fritz and South Korea’s Director General for Bilateral Economic Affairs Kim Sun-young—focused on supporting Korean investment in the United States, easing travel for Korean workers involved in those projects, and expanding technical training to enhance the skills of American workers.

Officials highlighted the success of the newly established Korean Investment and Travel Desk, aimed at deepening bilateral economic ties, and stressed the importance of clear communication on U.S. immigration and travel requirements to encourage continued investment while complying with U.S. law.

U.S. representatives also underscored long-term workforce development as part of President Trump’s America First priorities, pointing to the release of a fact sheet outlining U.S. business visas and their allowable uses. The cooperation reflects Washington’s broader goal of encouraging Korean investment that supports American reindustrialization, strengthens the U.S.-ROK alliance, and enhances shared economic and industrial capabilities.
