In a time when technology often feels impersonal or overwhelming, 27-year-old Marly Garnreiter’s story is a powerful reminder of the unexpected ways it can support us—especially when paired with deep self-awareness and the courage to ask questions.
Marly, a strategist living in Paris, didn’t expect that her search for answers would lead her from grief to a life-saving diagnosis. After losing her father, Victor, to colon cancer in January 2024, she began to notice unsettling symptoms: night sweats, itchy skin, fatigue, and significant weight loss. “I kept eating normal amounts of food but I thought it must be the anxiety making me lose a lot of weight,” she said. “I’d accepted you lose weight with grief.”

Her doctor agreed that grief was the likely cause—especially when initial blood tests came back normal. But something didn’t sit right. “I felt I was processing the grief well,” Marly shared. “I thought it must be something.”
Following a hunch and driven by a spark of curiosity, she turned to ChatGPT. Typing in her symptoms, the AI pointed toward a potential diagnosis of blood cancer. “In May I sent a video to my friends – I had asked Chat GPT and it said I had blood cancer,” she recalled. But like many, Marly remained cautious: “I ignored it. We were all sceptical and told to only consult real doctors.”
Months passed. Then, around Christmas 2024, her symptoms intensified. “I had a constant pain in my chest. I was tired all the time,” she said. That’s when she returned to her GP. A scan revealed a large mass on her left lung, and a biopsy in February confirmed it: Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
The diagnosis brought with it a rush of emotions. “I felt a lot of anger,” Marly said. “I felt like everything was unfair. I didn't want my family to go through this one more time.” But amidst the storm, she found her footing. Before starting chemotherapy on March 1, she took the proactive step of freezing her eggs—preserving a piece of her future.

Now, undergoing four to six rounds of chemotherapy, Marly is facing this new chapter with clarity and courage. “I’m feeling confident for the future,” she said. “It’s really important to listen to our bodies. Sometimes we tend to lose our connection with our inner self. It’s important to be in tune.”
Marly’s journey is not just about a diagnosis—it’s about tuning into instinct, asking the hard questions, and embracing curiosity, even when it seems unconventional. Her story shows us that staying curious, even in moments of pain or doubt, can make all the difference.
And sometimes, the path to answers starts with simply paying attention—to our bodies, to our inner voice, and yes, even to a chatbot.
