Three years ago, in a small classroom in Pingtung, Taiwan, a troubled young boy sat with eyes full of anger and mistrust. He refused to attend class and had run away from home multiple times. His heart was filled with resentment—especially toward his mother.
But his teacher, Ms. Chen Jing-Rong—an educator with 27 years of experience—held firmly to one belief: there’s no such thing as a bad child, only children who need love, understanding, and guidance.
How Did a Runaway Boy Learn to Love His Mother Again?
The boy had been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome, and had a difficult relationship with his parents. One Mother’s Day, while his classmates prepared carnations to give to their moms, he smashed his flower in frustration. He rejected kindness, resisted learning, and left both his parents and teachers feeling helpless—unsure if he could ever be reached.
But Ms. Chen never gave up on him.
She spent three years patiently supporting him—holding heartfelt conversations, involving his classmates, and staying in close communication with his mother. In the safe and caring environment she created, the boy’s heart gradually began to open.
Then, something remarkable happened: on Mother’s Day, he stood up with his class and sang a song to his mom—offering her a carnation in gratitude.
Ms. Chen captured the touching moment in a video, which she shared on her Gan Jing Campus Teacher Premium Channel on GanJingWorld.com. It became one of the most moving entries in the 2023 Gan Jing World Mother’s Day Video Contest.
From anger to understanding, from resentment to gratitude—this mother-son reunion stands as a powerful testament to what education can truly achieve.
On July 18, 2025, Ms. Chen was awarded Taiwan’s highest national teaching honor: the prestigious Shih-Duo Award, issued by the Ministry of Education. Her incredible story was featured in the official award announcement.

"My son said that out of all the teachers he’s had, Ms. Chen holds the number one spot in his heart. Her encouragement continues to inspire him to move forward and become a loving person. Ms. Chen, thank you for your care and support. He truly felt your warmth. Thank you, Teacher—truly, thank you."

“Gan Jing Campus inspired my students to love learning, express themselves, and grow in confidence. It brought unity to our classroom and helped create a calm, respectful atmosphere,” Ms. Chen said.
So, what makes Gan Jing Campus so effective?
Ms. Chen used her premium channel to share classroom activities, character-building stories, and digital learning resources—organized with interactive hashtags and curated collections. She integrated moral education and team bonding into a project called Sky’s the Limit, where she published over 100 videos, ranging from reading reflections and art projects to real-life lessons in kindness.

“In this digital age, I want to help my students avoid internet addiction. With Gan Jing World, I found a platform that protects their hearts—with goodness and beauty.”
— Ms. Chen Jing-Rong
“Gan Jing World avoids addictive algorithms and filters out violent, sexual, and criminal content. Because of that, my students feel safe and happy learning online,” said Ms. Chen. “Parents often express their appreciation. One parent told me, ‘Your videos are so thoughtful and heartfelt. Seeing my child take learning seriously at school truly brings me joy.’”
A Win for Teachers, Students, and Parents
Gan Jing Campus also helps foster empathy among students. When one girl was recovering from surgery, her classmates volunteered to carry her books and help with lunch—every day for three months. Later, when a different student broke his arm, classmates once again stepped up—carrying his bag and even lifting his chair, all without being asked.
In 2024, Ms. Chen and her students participated in Gan Jing World’s “Kindness Is Cool” Video Awards—and won the “Best Ensemble Award.” Their project was even featured on the giant screen in New York City’s Times Square. The international contest drew participants from over 50 countries. For their entry, Ms. Chen’s students recreated scenes from their school library experiences, producing short films such as Kindness Is Truly Cool and A Simple Act of Help. These projects showcased how small acts of kindness can bring happiness and create a culture of giving.
“The students who participated became more emotionally balanced, developed a more positive attitude, and became more accepting of classmates with learning or emotional challenges,” Ms. Chen shared. “Their academic performance also improved, and they began to shine in competitions.”
Messages of support have poured in from teachers and parents across the U.S., Canada, Japan, Korea, and beyond.
“Seeing these stories from Taiwan reminds us of the beauty of traditional education and the kindness of children. The world needs more of this,” one viewer wrote.
“Gan Jing World gives students a safe space to share their acts of kindness—and lets the world see them. That’s the kind of education that transcends borders.”
— Ms. Chen Jing-Rong
