Kenyan police clashed with protesters on Tuesday near an air base which will host a proposed quarantine facility for U.S. Ebola patients.

According to Associated Press security forces sought to disperse the demonstrators from a street through the town of Nanyuki.

There have been multiple protests - and legal action - since the facility at Laikipia Air Base was announced last month.

The U.S. said no American Ebola patient would be allowed to return home and they would instead be quarantined at the site in central Kenya.

Kenya has not recorded any Ebola cases, with the latest outbreak so far within Congo and Uganda.

President William Ruto has defended the plan which came as part of commitment of $13 million by the U.S.
