<div class="gjw_content"><p>Xander Schauffele secured his inaugural major championship victory by birdying the 72nd hole, edging out Bryson DeChambeau in a thrilling finish at the PGA Championship on Sunday at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.</p> <p>The 30-year-old Californian delivered a remarkable final-round performance, carding a 6-under 65 to conclude the tournament at 21-under 263, clinching victory by a single stroke over DeChambeau, who surged with a late charge.</p> <p>Maintaining a share of the lead throughout the tournament, Schauffele started the final day tied with Collin Morikawa and wasted no time in pulling ahead, notching birdies on the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 9th holes.</p> <p>Despite a lone bogey on the 10th, Schauffele quickly rebounded with birdies at the 11th and 12th holes to maintain his momentum.</p> <p>DeChambeau, the one-time major champion and LIV Golf standout, delivered an impressive final round, carding a 64 highlighted by four birdies on the back nine, including crucial ones on the 16th and 18th holes, drawing level with Schauffele as the latter approached the 17th.</p> <p>With the pressure mounting, Schauffele showcased his composure, executing a brilliant second shot from the rough on the 18th hole, setting up a clutch birdie opportunity. His chip to 6 feet paved the way for the winning putt, sending the crowd into a frenzy.</p> <p>Meanwhile, Viktor Hovland of Norway secured third place with a solid 66, finishing at 18 under. Morikawa, despite a slow start with 14 consecutive pars, managed to salvage a birdie on the final hole, concluding with an even-par 71 to tie for fourth alongside Belgium’s Thomas Detry at 15 under.</p></div>
