Tour de Pier at the Iconic Manhattan Beach Pier
Tour de Pier is a unique cancer fundraising event that brings participants together for a five-hour outdoor stationary bike ride at the Manhattan Beach Pier. In addition to the cycling, Tour de Pier, includes music, a free Health & Fitness Expo, healthy food and beverages samples, and interactive health & fitness booths. Grab your leash and your fur babies (fur babies=dogs) and head to the Garden! During the special dog-walking hours, you’re invited to bring your four-legged friends to the Garden for a stroll throughout. Soar, Tropical Butterflies at SC Botanic Garden
Through Saturday, August 31. Your journey begins as you step into the Host and Nectar Garden and wander through beautiful plant species that are part of a butterfly’s habitat. 11th Annual Mark Vasquez blood drive
Mark Vasquez joined the Manhattan Beach Police Department in 2005 and worked in patrol until he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, in 2007. His fellow officers nicknamed him “Superman” and held many fundraisers and events in support of their hero. However, the department lost its “Superman” on May 15, 2011, which is also National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. Macarthur, view what remains of a dual 6” gun battery built during WWll and visit one of the best preserved Cold War-era Nike missile launch sites in the country. Air Plant Himmeli workshop
Register today to learn how to make a hanging brass himmeli for air plants! Himmeli is a traditional Swedish ornament meaning heaven or sky.
