The Bread that Brought Joy

On top of a snowy mountain where the clouds seemed to touch the rooftops and the stars sparkled like diamonds at night, there was a boy named Benny. He went to school every day and played with other children.

The school wasn’t big, and there were only three classrooms, with just a few students. But every day, the children played together and were happy.

Winter arrived, and the mountain roads were covered in snow, food deliveries stopped coming for several days. The school’s breakfast slowly started to run out.

By Friday, when the teacher opened the breakfast box, there was only one small piece of bread left.

The teacher looked at the children and said, "Today, we only have this one piece of bread. What should we do?"

The classroom grew quiet.

Benny looked around. His classmates were hungry. He suddenly raised his hand and said:

“Teacher, I ate more at home yesterday. Could I let the others eat this bread first?”

The teacher nodded and handed the bread to Benny.

He walked to his seat and tore off a small piece for Lucy, who was the youngest and always ate slowly.

Then he tore another piece for Andy, who had been sick the afternoon before and missed dinner.

Finally, Benny put the remaining small piece in his mouth, took a gentle bite, and smiled.

The children quietly watched him, and though no one spoke, everyone felt warm inside.

After school, the children went home and brought small treats from their homes, like cookies, sweet potatoes, and apples.

One said, “This is for you!”

Another said, “This is homemade by my mom, please have a piece!”

Soon, Benny’s desk was filled with food.

That day, Benny didn’t say much, but he smiled and said:

“We can share, that way no one will go hungry.”

True sharing is giving, even when you need something yourself. When we care for others, happiness returns to us.
