In a small rural town in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, 27-year-old Philani works a dead-end job, overshadowed by his professional soccer player brother. When a professional cycling team notices him and invites him to a race 300 kilometers away, he has no way to get there and no resources. He ends up stealing his boss's bike and riding off alone, against his widowed mother's wishes.
