Dave Eggers presents a unique historical tale. John "Minnie" Moore built a mine in Idaho and sold it to Englishman Henry Miller, who then married local Annie and constructed a mansion for her, known as the "Millers' Minnie Moore Mine Mansion." After Henry's death, Annie was swindled out of everything except the mansion. She and her son began raising pigs in the yard, but the town objected. Unexpectedly, Annie and her team decided to move the entire mansion on logs while still living in it. This metafictionally narrated story demonstrates that nonfiction can be as engaging and creative as any fictional tale.
