Princess Ariadne gives Theseus a ball of thread so he can find his way out of the labyrinth, the Greek myth of a clever plan and a brave hero.
The story
Long ago, the people of Athens feared the Minotaur, a dangerous creature hidden inside a twisting labyrinth on Crete. Theseus sailed to Crete and promised to face it.
On Crete, Princess Ariadne learned what Theseus planned to do. She wanted to help him enter the labyrinth and find his way out.
Ariadne gave Theseus a ball of strong thread. She told him to tie one end at the entrance and unwind the thread as he walked.
Theseus entered the dark, winding labyrinth. Turn after turn, the thread stretched behind him and marked the path back.
Deep inside, Theseus found the Minotaur. He faced the creature bravely and defeated it.
Then Theseus followed Ariadne's thread through every twist and turn. It led him back to the entrance, where Ariadne and the young Athenians waited safely.
